Mini screen celebrations

Vishu special shows are aplenty on TV.

As the sound of crackers greets you to wish you a prosperous Vishu, enjoy an eventful day ahead instead of listening to tales of woe about how the Vishu of the day has lost its charm as compared to the past. Sample a visual extravaganza on the mini screen with a host of special programmes.

Amrita TV begins the day on a lyrical note with Kavithayude Kaineettam, which gifts its viewers with exquisite compositions in verse from the best bards of Malayalam — ONV, Sugatha Kumari and Madhusudhanan Nair who recite their own poems recounting their Vishu memories.

Aksharangalude Vishukkani, will see noted writer C. Radhakrishnan explaining the actual significance of this ancient agrarian festival commemorating the birth of the Malayalam New Year to Alamcode Leelakrishnan as they glide gently down the tranquil waters of the Bharatapuhza.

Interviews with the stars will be the highlights of Asianet and Asianet Plus. There will be special feature series with Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kunchako Boban, Biju Menon etc on Asianet while Vidya Balan and Sreya Goshal will spice up the screens on Asianet Plus.

Kairali Vishu specials include conversations with actress Revathy in Revathy Nakshathram — a glimpse into the 30-year-long acting career with Ormmayile Varnaballoon and Dileep’s Nadanam Mayikamohanam.

While Vishu special Ruchibedham and stage show Pournami Chandrika honouring Arjunan Master will feature on ACV; the documentary Vishu kani, Vishu thira and a special tele film One Circle along with numerous chat shows will be Surya TV’s USP this time.
